Angel Echevarria and Tristan McAlister share the halls of Virginia’s Stafford High School. Echevarria, a husband and father of four who works as a custodian to take care of his family. McAlister is a senior student and baseball star. Despite coming from different walks of life, the two men have forged a friendship for the past two years built on general kindness.

“Angel’s one of those people that was always smiling, saying ‘God bless. Have a good day,’” senior Tristan McAlister told NBC Washington.

Throughout their friendship, Echevarria and McAlister discovered that they have a surprising amount of things in common, including their love of sneakers. During a recent conversation, McAlister asked Echevarria which pair of sneakers he should buy for himself. Echevarria suggested the Air Jordan 8, prompting McAlister to ask him if he has a pair of his own
